2023 Return Assessment Notice List
Property Tax Return
Filing a property tax return allows the property owner to state the "value" of their property and ensure all taxable items are listed to avoid penalties or incorrect taxation. Filing of this document may create a review of the county’s value of the property being returned. Reasonable notice is hereby provided that an onsite inspection by a member of the county appraisal staff may be required. Said property visit will be for the purpose of determining the correctness of the information contained in the county’s appraisal record for the property being returned.
Homestead Exemptions
To receive the benefit of Homestead Exemption, a homeowner must file an application with the Tax Assessor's office. Applications are taken year round. April 1 is the date that determines what tax year the Homestead will go into effect. Meaning: If Homestead is applied for after April 1 the exemption will become effective for the following tax year.
Click the "Homestead Exemptions" button above to apply online. You will be taken to qPublic.schneidercorp.com . You must search for your specific property, and then click on the blue button in the upper left hand corner labeled "Apply for Homestead Exemption". If you have any questions about how to apply online, or in person, please call us at 912-754-2125.
Appeals to Board of Equalization
If you received a no change notice and decide that you do not wish to go to the Board of Equalization, you have the option of submitting an appeal waiver. Appeal waivers may be submitted up until the appeal administrator schedules a hearing date with the Board of Equalization. If you would like to obtain an appeal waiver or get more information, please call 912-754-2125 and we will be happy to assist you.
