How to file for Homestead Exemption

To file for a homestead exemption, you will need to provide proof of residency and ownership of the property. This will require a driver's license showing your home address, as well as a utility bill indicating you are residing in the home by way of paying utilities. Our system auto fills most information on our applications, so come in to our office M-F between 8:30am and 5:00pm, and we will be happy to print your application and help you fill it out. Once your application has been completed it will go before the Board of Assessors for approval and be applied to your home until the residence becomes unqualified due to reasons such as but not limit to; moving, selling, or renting the property. Senior exemptions are not automatically applied to your account so once you reach that status please come back to our office and apply for the additional exemptions. The exemptions we currently offer are listed above. For any exemption that requires income verification, a current tax return will need to be submitted. Exemptions with income limitations change every year and those totals are provided by the Department of Revenue.
