Weapons Carry Permits
The applicant must be at least 21 years old and have a Government Issued ID to prove age and Effingham County residency
Fees: $70.00 cash, check, or money order. Checks should be made out to Effingham County Probate Court. The fee for fingerprinting is $8.00
After the applicant has filled out the application they will take it to the Sheriff's Office to be fingerprinted.
The Sheriff’s Dept. is open for fingerprints from 8:00 - 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. The Probate Court will only take applications between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:15p.m. Monday thru Friday.
Weapons Carry Permits are issued by mail twice per month.
STARTING DECEMBER 19, 2011,WE WILL BE TAKING APPLICATIONS FOR THE NEW 2012 CONCEALED WEAPON PERMITS . THE NEW PERMITS WILL HAVE YOUR PICTURE AND THE SEAL OF GEORGIA. WE WILL TAKE PICTURES IN THE PROBATE OFFICE.
THE DATE ON YOUR CURRENT PERMIT IS STILL GOOD. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO APPLY FOR THE NEW ONE.
