Our Mission Statement

To provide the citizens of Effingham County accurate, fair, and honest elections; to assist all citizens in the elections and registration process, while ensuring those who wish to participate in the democratic process are properly registered and understand the process to follow to cast their vote.



Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with O.C.G.A. 21-2-540, a special election shall be held in Effingham County to fulfill the unexpired term in the office of the Board of Education, District 2, caused by the resignation of Troy Alford. The special election will be held on November 2, 2021.

Qualifying for the special election shall be held at the Board of Elections and Registration Office at 284 GA Highway 119 S., Springfield. Beginning at 9:00 am on August 17 and ending at 4:30 pm on August 19. The qualifying fee shall be $132.00.

Only voters registered within District 2 are eligible to vote in this Special Election. All persons who are not registered to vote and who desire to register to vote in the special election may register to vote through the close of business on October 4th.  Early voting will be held October 12-29 at the Board of Elections Office from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday. Saturday voting will be held on October 16 and 23 from 9:00 am-5:00 pm. Polls will be open from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm on Election Day.

Should a runoff election be required, such runoff will be held on November 30.
